We have three new families in the Every Bird section of the site including beautiful avocets (50.0%), super-intelligent jays, crows, and magpies (66.7%), and clinically adorable kinglets (100.0%). The total number of species captured thus far has risen to 135, or 38.2% of all bird species in Montana, a modest increase of five species from our last post. Despite being small in number, the new birds were beautiful and include the barred owl and gray partridge shown below (in advance of posting their families in the Every Bird section of the website in the coming months).
We’ve also converted the Pelican section of the Every Bird project into its own special project (they deserve it) with new content and a bonus limerick. In addition, a special project has been added on Wild places. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!
